Indianola, IowaCarolyn (Manley) Hunerdosse, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2007. Carolyn was born on January 28, 1928 in rural Milo, Iowa to Floyd and Fay (Shoemaker) Manley.
Carolyn passed away at her home after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her family.
Carolyn attended Milo Schools until the 6th grade when her family moved to Indianola. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1946. She attended Simpson College and then worked for Drs. Shaw and Trueblood from 1948-1953.
In February of 1953, Carolyn was united in marriage to Wayne Hunerdosse. Two children were born to this union, Jane (Hunerdosse) Durfey and Jory Hunerdosse.
Carolyn was an active member of the Medora United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School and playing the piano for over 40 years. She was an integral part of the Medora Ladies Aid for over 50 years.
She was a loving farm wife, mother and “grammy” and deeply enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Wayne of rural Indianola; daughter, Jane (Alan) Durfey; and son, Jory (Michelle) Hunerdosse all of rural Indianola. She has six grandchildren, Teddy and Amber (Durfey) Hutchinson of Omaha, NE, Chad Durfey of Indianola, Ashley Durfey at home and Aiden, Meghan and Calyn Hunerdosse all at home. She is also survived by one sister, Janice Westerly and her husband, Lyle of Indianola. There are many other family and friends who will greatly miss her.
Visitation will be held 2 – 8 p.m., Thursday, April 5 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 6 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Medora Ladies Aid or to Iowa Hospice, 5650 NW Johnston Dr., Johnston, IA 50131.
