TOWNSEND, ELDER T. C., Greenfield Township, P. O. Norwalk; the subject of this sketch was born in Nottaway county, Virginia, January 2, 1799, and since that time has lived in Kentucky, and Virginia, and came to this county in December, 1860, and since that time has been a permanent resident, and more or less identified with its interests; December 2, 1824, he married Miss Polly Voriss, of Kentucky, and has but one son living, W. F., and two daughters, deceased: Catharine, deceased (wife of James Brownlee, of Grant county, Indiana), and Emma, deceased (wife of Hon. J. D. Cassatt, of Wabash county, Indiana); he owns an improved farm of 112 acres; Mr. Townsend has been permanently connected with the church at Norwalk for a number of years, and has also been an ardent worker in the cause of temperance; he has published a neat little volume entitled the reminescences of Elder T. C. Townsend, which contains a complete history of his life, and connection with the church.
