COOL, HENDRICKS, Squaw Township, lives on Sec. 26, where he owns a nice farm of 80 acres of well-improved land; he was born Feb. 9, 1824, in Washington county, Pennsylvania; his parents moved to Morgan county, Pennsylvania, in 1840; he was educated in common schools; came to Rock Island county, Illinois, in 1856, and to Appanoose county, Iowa, in 1858; in 1860 he moved to Putnam county, Missouri, and to Ainsworth in 1867; not being satisfied there, he came to this county, and settled where he now lives in 1871; he is a man of industry, energy, and more than average ability; he is now the nominee of the Republican party for County Supervisor, and should his nomination be ratified at the polls, will make the county a competent and faithful officer; he enlisted in October, 1861, in Co. I, Eighteenth Missouri Infantry, as a private, but was promoted to Sergeant; he served his three years and was discharged in November, 1864; he was in all the battles in which the company was engaged: he is an honored Mason and Odd Fellow, and member of the M. E. Church; he was married Aug. 10, 1845, to Mary, daughter of Benj. Wells, of Morgan county, Ohio; they have a family of five children: Sarah D., Michael, Cassius C., Temperance L. and Benj. S.; Michael and Temperance L. are deceased.
