WRIGHT, HENRY, farmer, Squaw Township, Sec. 16; P. O. Madora; born October 7, 1829, in Randolph county, Indiana; parents moved to Vermilion county, Illinois, in 1833; came to this county in 1847 and settled at the old Watt's Mill; being of a roaming disposition, he went back to Illinois, and, after a lapse of time, again came to Iowa and tried Boone and Dallas counties, and finally settled near Hartford in this county, where he remained until 1869, when he came to his present home, where he has 95 acres of land; was married March 28, 1850, to Hannah, daughter of Samuel Stanfield, Vermilion county, Illinois; has had thirteen children: Hannah J., Thomas F., Sarah and George (twins), Samuel, Cynthia O., James, John W. and Maria L. (twins), Phoebe O., Emily, Charles W., William R.; of these, John, George and Sarah are dead; was one of the earliest settlers in Warren county, having come before Indianola was even laid out, and there was but one house in the now city of Des Moines.
