SWAYNE, ISAIAH I., farmer and carpenter, Greenfield Township, Sec. 17; P. O. Norwalk; born in Indiana, September 8, 1844, and came to this county, with his parents, in the fall of 1852; he was married in this county to Miss Mary L. Perkins, on the 27th of March, 1870; she was born in Des Moines county, this State, February 4, 1844; they have a family of two sons and two daughters: Homer D., Grace, Wilber and Myra; he enlisted in the late war, in Co. E, 34th Iowa Infantry, August 19, 1862, and was mustered out August 15, 1865; was with the army when engaged in the battles of Chickasaw Bluffs, siege of Vicksburg, Arkansas Post and the Red river Campaign; he owns an improved farm of eighty acres.
