SMITH, JOSIAH, farmer, Linn Township, Sec. 19; P. O. Commerce, born in Rockingham county, Virginia, in 1817, October 5, and lived there till 1852, when he came to Illinois, and lived there till he came to this county, in 1865; he was married to Miss Barbara Campbell, a native of Virginia, in the year 1839; they have a family of six children, living: Elizabeth J., Francis, Josephine, Jackson, Amanda, and Clara Isabella; he owns a farm of 600 acres; his son Jackson, born in Virginia, in September, 1857, was married to Rose Ann Durigan, a native of Illinois, in the year 1873; they have a family of three children: Arthur D., Barbara A., and Lucretia J.
