SMITH, CAMERON, Allen Township, physician and surgeon, and druggist, Carlisle; was born in Burlington, Iowa, July 9, 1846, where he was raised, and studied medicine with Dr. J. S. Robinson, of that city; August 7, 1862, enlisted in Co. C, 30th Iowa, and was discharged on account of a wound received in the foot, at Arkansas Post, January 11, 1863, and received his discharge, April 23, 1863; he then began the study of medicine under Dr. A. H. Hoffman, surgeon in charge; he went to New York, in 1865, and attended Dr. Simm's College and graduated in the spring of 1868.
