SANDY, JEREMIAH H., farmer, Belmont Township, Sec. 9; P. O. Milo; he was born January 17, 1839, in Owen county, Indiana; parents came to Iowa in 1854; he settled on present farm in 1862, where he has a fine farm of 170 acres; he enlisted August 11, 1862, in Co. D, Thirty-fourth Iowa Volunteers, and served to March 10, 1863, when he was discharged for general disability; he was married August 10, 1864, to Rachael Thorp, a native of Indiana; they have seven children: Jennie F., Henry G., Walter W., Charles W., Willie, Lizzie L., and Allen, all living.
