MAINE, AMOS B., farmer, Jackson Township, Sec. 5; P. O. Bevington; born in Geauga county, Ohio, May 19th, 1827; his parents moved to Cass county, Ill., in 1838, where he was brought up; he was married in Scott Co., that State, in October 1850, to Miss Mary Ann Bryan, of that county; by this union there were nine children, of whom eight are living: John F., Ann E. (now Mrs. Oscar Springer, of this township), Meranda E. (now Mrs. Jno. Lympees, of Linn Grove), Sarah, (now Mrs. A. C. Headrick), Mary E., Emesriter, Lodrick L., and Charles W.; having lost one son: Albert C. Mr. Maine was one of the earliest settlers in this part of the county, having removed here in 1853, when this township was organized, and has been identified with its growth and development, bearing his full proportion of the trials and privations of the early settlers. He owns 200 acres of land, well cultivated and improved.
