CONDIT, JAPHIA, farmer, Squaw Township, Sec. 13; P. O. Cool; was born Aug. 16, 1825, in Essex county, New York; moved with parents to Gallagher county, Ohio, in 1839; was educated in common schools; married Sept. 15, 1855, Mary A., daughter of John Hawk, of Gallagher county, Ohio; has seven children: Phebe A., John S., Elvey O., Harvey L., infant, Hattie, Mary H., of which Hattie and two infants are dead; came to this county in the spring of 1857, and settled on present farm, where he owns 397 acres of land; is a member of the M. E. Church, as are all his family, except one; has been elected Town Clerk, Trustee and Justice of the Peace; has been School Treasurer for the last eleven years.
