THOMAS ALBERT SCHOOLER
Born at Scotch Ridge in Warren County Oct. 6, 1874, Thomas Albert Schooler is the son of Peter and Janet Hastie Schooler. Feb. 10, 1897, Mr. Schooler married Alice Bertha Pitman, daughter of William Cartwright and Frances (Bond) Pitman. Mrs. Schooler was born near Shenandoah in Fremont county Feb. 26, 1874. Children born to the SchooIers are Roy William, Dec. 7, 18 9 7 ; Dorothea (Hollen), July 9, 1909; Frances (Richardson), Oct. 3, 1911; Faye Thomas, March 6, 1914. Mr. Schooler was for many years a farmer. At first he farmed in the vicinity of Scotch Ridge. He then moved to a farm near Palmyra, and from there to a farm -located three miles south of Indianola.
From 1918 to 1951 Mr. and Mrs. Schooler lived on East Ashland avenue in Indianola. Since his wife's death in March, 1951, Mr. Schooler has lived with his children in Indianola and Hartford, Minneapolis, Minn., and Washington, D. C.. From 1930 to 1950 Mr. Schooler was chief of police of Indianola. For many years he was an elder in the United Presbyterian church at Indianola. When he was a resident of Otter township, he served as township treasurer and school director. His political ties are with the Republican Party. Mr. Schooler died May 17, 1953.
