AUSTIN R. SCHOOLER
Austin R. Schooler, farmer of Allen Township, was born near Carlisle Sept. 21, 1880, the son of Peter and Janet (Hastie) Schooler. His father settled in Allen Township during the fifties. Austin R. Schooler, who is living on part of the home place, has added to it, and the farm now consists of 296 acres. Mr. Schooler attended the Scotch Ridge school and took a business course at Simpson College.
Dec. 27, 1911, Mr. Schooler married Pearle Nancy Sones, daughter of George and Nancy Sones. Mrs. Schooler was born at Liberty Center Aug. 7, 1887. The Schoolers have three daughters: Maxine Pearle (Smith), born March 27, 1915; Janet May (Pholen), born May 18, 1917; Mary Ruth (Felton), born Oct. 5, 1918.
Mr. Schooler, who is a member of the United Presbyterian church of Scotch Ridge, has been an elder of that church 25 years. He was director of the Scotch Ridge school eight years, assessor of Allen township 14 years, and trustee of the township 12 years. He is a charter member of the Warren County Farm Bureau, has served as A.A.A. committee chairman in his township for 14 years. He is a Modern Woodman, Master Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner. His political affiliation is with the Republican Party.
