ARTHUR B. SCHOOLER
The history of Scotch Ridge community would not be complete without mention of the life of Arthur B. Schooler, son of
Peter and Janet Schooler. He was born May 9, 1877, on the farm on which he resided all his life; having passed to his heavenly reward Dec. 12, 1948.
He was a very successful farmer. He kept modernizing the old home to make it more comfortable and attractive. As time went by, he kept adding to the acreage of the old home place, which he bought from his father, until finally he owned 335 acres. His credit rating was of the highest and his word as good as gold. Mr. Schooler took an active part in community life. He joined the Scotch Ridge United Presbyterian church in his early youth. He served as trustee and treasurer of his church for many years. He was treasurer of Scotch Ridge school 20 years, and Allen township assessor 24 years.
He was married to (Helen) Ina Ray Scheibenberger, daughter of David and Sarah Scheibenberger of near Norwich, Page county, Feb. 16, 1910. They were the parents of two daughters, Eleanor Jeanette, now Mrs. Dwight L. Reynolds, Estherville, and Clara Louise, now Mrs. Rudolph B. Henny, Wheat Ridge, Colo. Mr. Schomer was a member of the Farm Bureau. His political ties were with the Republican Party.
