The following men and women have been selected as typical of the outstanding recognition achieved by alumni of Simpson College in representative fields of endeavor:

NAVY - Com. R. Gaylord Davis (May 29, 1883 - November 8, 1948)
Commander Robert Gaylord Davis; has been ranking officer in the aviation medical corps; entered naval service as a physician in 1912 after completion of education in medicine at Rush Medical, Chicago; has served with the Asiatic Fleet; at the close of the World War was transferred to the Great Lakes Training Station; in 1923 was transferred to the Air Forces of the Atlantic Fleet; in 1925 was appointed to the aviation medical corps; graduate of Simpson in the class of 1905.
