ASHWORTH, JASPER R., farmer, Sec. 17, Greenfield Township; P. O. Norwalk; born in North Carolina in 1831, and came to Indiana when quite young, where he was raised, with the exception of two years that he spent in Missouri; was married in Indiana, to Miss Sophia Miller, a native of Ohio, in 1851; they came to this county in October, 1853; they have a family of ten children living: Frank, Alice, Enoch J., William A., John, Laura, Fannie, George W., Annetta and Clara; four deceased; he enlisted in the late war in Co. H, Thirty-fourth Iowa Infantry, Aug. 19, 1862, and served two years and three months; was at the siege of Vicksburg, Arkansas Post, Fort Morgan, Donelson, and other engagements; owns a finely improved farm of 276 acres.
