A GATHERING OF THE PATRIARCHS
Mine host, A. P. Keeney, of the Madison House, the oldest landlord in Indianola, had a remarkable gathering at this popular hostelry on Christmas day. He invited all the prominent old widowers of this vicinity to eat a Christmas dinner with him. The patriarchal flock that answered the summons were a most interesting group of time-worn veterans.

ISAAC SNODGRASS is the junior of Mr. Richey by but a few weeks. He was born in Giles county, Virginia, April 20, 1810. He moved to Iowa in 1856, coming directly to Warren county, where he has since resided. His occupation has been farming. Thirty years residence here makes him indeed an old settler. Though of stout build and apparently a hale and hearty old man, physical infirmities have for a number of years retired him from the toils of active life. While this doubtless circumscribes his happiness in some degree, he still seems to enjoy life and to be blessed with a physical constitution sufficient to bear him on to a ripe old age.

Indianola Herald, Indianola, Iowa, Thursday, June 18, 1891, p.2
Mr. Isaac Snodgrass died at the home of his son, George, in this city Tuesday last. Another of our old friends gone to rest.
