George W. Chittenden Jr. (Aug 20, 1851 – Apr 26, 1922)

George Washington Chittenden Jr. was born August 20,1851 in Illinois, the son of George W. Chittenden Sr. and Anna VanGilder. George moved to Warren County, Iowa in 1871 and married Eliza A. Moore on Dec 14, 1873 in the town of Schonberg, Warren County, Iowa. Eliza, was born May 17, 1854 in Ohio, the daughter of Samuel Moore and Eliza Winfigler. George and Eliza lived in Warren County and had four children: Addie F. born Sep 27, 1874, Elmer S. born Sep 1876, Clarence H. born 1883 and Orval M. born Oct 1, 1887. Elmer was the only child who lived to adulthood. Clarence died Mar 18, 1887, Addie died Nov 29, 1888, and Orval died Feb 14, 1890. George died Apr 26, 1922 and Eliza died Mar 19, 1943. Other then their son, Elmer, all the family members were buried in Belmont Cemetery, Warren County. Elmer (Sep 1876 – Feb 5, 1953) and his wife, Minnie (1881 – July 7, 1963), were buried in Indianola Cemetery.
