Thank you for the reply, everything is correct with one exception. Walter and Wilbur were not twins Walter was the older of the 2 and passed away in Ramsey MN. In 1927. John Sitzmore is my great grandfather. His draft registration card has his middle name listed as Gedion. Daniel Sitzmore is my grandfather. He was born in 2/7/1907 in Fort Madison IA and passed away 7/30/1964 in Peoria IL. He married Ellen Sturgeon on 1/19/1929. They had 5 children Betty my mother, Walter, Myra, Peggy and Rex. Sometime after 1920, John Gedion and Anna separated for reasons unknown. John Gedion took Walter and Wilbur and moved to Minnesota. Wilbur returned to Peoria after Walters death. The Sitzmore surname has no origin and appeared for the first time in the 1920 U.S. census records. My grandfather and his siblings did not know that there surname was not Sitzmore and I have been searching for years as to what it is. I found an Obituary for Elizabeth Reinhard that said she had been preceded in death by Anna Lefever and John Sitzmore. The combination of all the information that I have found over the years is what led me to the 1870 and 1880 census records. The reason for the surname change from Sietsema to Sitzmore remains a mystery.
