I don't see any "panic" here, and I agree that in general the LDS filming of records usually is a benefit to all. My questions have to do with removing these public records from the custody of the official record-keepers and holding them at some undisclosed location for what appears to be months (at minimum), during which time they are inaccessable to the public. Who is supervising this operation? How safe are they from fire, etc., while this is going on? Why does the County Clerk think the local Genealogy Society is filming them when in fact the Mormons are?
Would anyone from Ottumwa care to speak up here???
And luckily I don't think Ancestry.com can gobble THESE up, even though they are doing their very best to get a monopoly on everything ELSE in the genealogy world, by fair means or "dubious".... :P
