Hello Beth
I have your genealogy!
I have a lot of information that may help you in your quest for data. There are at least three branches of von Hartens that have come over from Oldenburg, Germany. My branch is the same as yours; Anthony son of Gerhard who resided in Baltimore. Gerhard came over from Oldenburg near the beginning of the 19th century. Regarding your GG grandmother, I remember stories from my great uncle about his Uncle Rush von Harten and his family in South Dakota and Iowa areas.
The South Carolina von Hartens came over a bit later, approximately 1820 if I have my info correct. Although we're related, it's distant. I've spoken with the SC von Harten Patriarch, Col. 'Skeet' von Harten. He's incredible. They have a lot of famiy history and records documenting their arrival and prosperity to today.
I have been in contact with Toni Hart, a relative of ours. Her mother did tons of genealogy on our von Harten line. She was Mormon and had a keen insight on getting a lot of the work done on our side.
Call me if you need clarification on our line. I have data and pedigree to about 1675 or so. My cell phone is 330-256-5055. I can send you our pedigree if you would like. Please contact me.
I hope you get this message!!
