Grace,
The only 1852 census for Wapello County that I have seen, only lists the head of household. I am holding a photocopy of a page I made for each census year 1852 and 1854 (with my famly listed on it) and both those years only list head of family. The best early Iowa state census is the 1856. There is one for Wapello County and that would be LDS FHC microfilm 1021314. The 1856 census year lists all in the family, age, sex, married, widowed, years resident in state of Iowa, occupation, and then continues to add additional details such as voter, owner of farm etc, then an agricultural production and manufacturing schedule. This census is very helpful to help tie down when a family first came to Iowa (not necessarily Wapello County.)There were earlier and later state census years also. Another great one is the 1885 Iowa State census for Wapello County. I have noticed that that one is online (probably saw it on Ancestry), however, the transcriptions are not without errors and it would be better to check the actual census because of the large amount of detail it may provide for your individual family.
Good hunting
V. Louise
