Thanks, Mary. I found similar info after I'd sent my previous message. Looks like they lived in Cass, Wapello Co. IA. Wife: Christian, and six children. I think this is the Thomas Hampton killed in the coal mine accident. I also have a note that a C. Hampton filed for divorce from Thos. Hampton 1890 in Wapello Co. The obit indicates Thomas had not lived with his family for some time.

This is not "my" Clara Hampton.

I also have notes that a C. Hampton married a Thos. Hampton in Appanoose Co. IA in Aug 1886 but think this also is NOT a Clara Hampton. I remember checking the marriage records several years ago in Centerville, but am unable to find my notes now. I vaguely recall bride's name was "Charlotte".

Perhaps someone can clarify this for me. I need to verify this marriage was not a 2nd one for "C. Hampton". A marriage for my Clara Hampton would have been a second one.
