Hiram McKim, a well known settler, passed away at the J L Griffin home March 4, 1910, aged 65 years. Hiram was the son of B W and Catherine McKim, one of 9 children and born in Ohio August 15, 1844. He united in marriage to Sarah Jane Kays September, 18, 1866. They came west through Missouri and Kansas, and for 30 years occupied a farm north of town. To this union 12 children were born, 7 sons and 5 daughters: Weston M., died in infancy. Etta, wife of J H Hilterbrand, died December 1901. Elmer at home with his mother. Albert D., Katie wife of Frank Littlejohn, Cornelius, Isabel, wife of Wm H Longcor, Geo H., still at home. Deborah E., wife of Paul Lyon; John F, Grace L., wife o f Louis Lyon, and Weaver. Mr McKim is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 3 brothers: Morton, George, William. Our subject was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisted in Co B, 15th Ohio Infantry, serving 4 years, 4 months. Services were held at the Christian church, and burial at the Highland Cemetery, Eddyville.
