Jesse Palmer, died November 6, 1910, a month after celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary SW of Eddyville. He was married to Ellen S Eaves in Morgan County, Ohio, on October 6, 1850. They were strict Quakers. He was the son of William and Hannah Palmer and born in New York, on July 6, 1829, so he was 81 years, 4 months at his death. In 1854 they came to Iowa, settling first in Muscatine county. In 1856 they moved to Eddyville and after 5 years went to live on the Cox & Butcher farm, now owned by R J Oldham, located east of town. In the spring of 1867 they moved to the southern edge of Pleasant township, and have occupied that homestead for 43 years. They were blessed with 10 children, five of whom lie buried in the family plot in Highland cemetery. The five with their mother who survive are: Chas C., W R., Oscar C., Ed, Hannah wife of Thos Hannon, 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
