James Kilfoil, June 19, 1957
aged 62, an Ottumwa miner, was killed at the Globe Coal mine, owned by Ed Hawks, west of Ottumwa. An empty mine car jumped the track and struck the wall collapsing and dropping a piece of slate weighing over two tons, pinning the miner across the rail of the tracks. Kilfoil and his wife lived at 920 Plum street. The son of Wm & Mary Kilfoil, born October 28, 1894, at Elkader. He was a resident of Ottumwa 25 years, and married to Beulah Marie Merrill in 1932.
Surviving are a son, James Robert Kilfoil, 2 daughters, Mrs David Long, and Mrs Marth Leeing. A sister Mrs Phillip Elsworth, Oskaloosa. Four brothers, Joseph, Orville, Thomas and Leonard.
Proceeded in death by his parents and a daughter, five sisters and 4 brothers. Burial Calvary Cemetery.
