Scott Rains rites Sunday

Scott H. Rains, 77, of Ottumwa, formerly of Fairfield, died at 9 a.m. Thursday at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Raymond Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Hall officiating. Burial will be Monday in Evergreen Cemetery. The body will be transferred from Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds to Raymond Funeral Home, where friends may call beginning at noon Saturday. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Rains was born Aug. 13, 1909 in Fairfield, the son of Fred and Nellie Scott Rains. His first marriage was to Cecile Stevens. On Nov. 18, 1945, he married Naomi Wolfe in Ottumwa. He was associated with his father in the grocery stores in Fairfield and later operated two service stations here. He moved to Ottumwa in 1976. He was a member of Fairfield Friends Church.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Jack, of Montgomery, Ala.; four grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
