Mrs. Winnifred R. Hughell, 85, of Libertyville, died Monday at 4:20 p.m., at the Jefferson County Hospital. She had been in failing health the past few months.
Funeral services will be held at the Weston Behner Funeral Home on Wednesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. Burial will be in the Fell Cemetery at Libertyville. The family will be at the funeral home tonight to receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30.
Mrs. Hughell was born Oct. 29, 1888 in Wapello County, the daughter of Wilson and Laura Potts Shipler. She was married to Harry C. Hughell on Feb. 19, 1908. He died July 10, 1919.
She had lived in the Libertyville community most of her life. She was a telephone operator there for over 30 years and a member of the Libertyville United Methodist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy H. Creek of Grass Valley, Calif., Mrs. Meryle Buerkens of Berkley, Calif., Mrs. Evaughn Manning of Lafayette, Calif., two grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Meryle Helfenstine of Bloomfield, Mrs. Mary Workman of Fairfield and Homer Shipler of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, one son and one daughter.
