Marie E. Crable

Marie E. Crable, 66, 801 W. Fillmore, Ave., died at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 1992, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. James E. Grubb officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The Altar and Rosary Society will lead Rosary at 4 p.m. today. Prayers for a Christian wake will be at 7 tonight at Behner Funeral Home, followed by family visitation until 8:30. Memorials have been established to Masses, Jefferson County Public Health Nursing Service and Jefferson County Chapter of the American Cancer Soceity.

Mrs. Crable was born June 18, 1925, in Fairfield, the daughter of James C. and Fern F. Forney Montgomery. She married Arnold L. Crable on Nov. 15, 1969, in Lancaster, Mo. She was a registered nurse for 44 years, worked as a public health nurse and did private duty nursing. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Catholic Daughter of America, VFW, Legion Auxiliary, taught CDC classes, was a lector special, eucharistic minister, Girl Scout leader, den mother, past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge 5, past president of Altar and Rosary, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, and Church Women United and served on the board of Jefferson County Lord's Cupboard. She had lived in Palm Springs, Calif., from 1943 to 1958, when she returned to Fairfield.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Len Matthias of Polk City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert and Paul Montgomery, both of Fairfield, both of Fairfield, James Montgomery of Davenport; and a sister, Betty Workman of Fairfield. A grandson preceded her in death.
