Francis E. Bower, 31, of 802 South Ward street, died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at the St. Joseph hospital. He was born February 10, 1913 in Appanoose county, the son of Charles and Rinda Bower, and had lived in Ottumwa for 25 years. He was a member of the First church of the Open Bible and had been employed by John Morrell & Co. for 11 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Bower, his mother, Mrs. Rinda Poncy of Ottumwa and by the following brothers and sisters; Miss Maxine Poncy, Miss Irene Bradshaw and George Bower, all of Ottumwa; Staff Sergeant Azel Bower with the Army in England; Private Burtis Bower and Private Louie Bower, both in the Army and now stationed in the Marshall Islands. He is also survived by his grandmother, Mrs. Anna Carder of Ottumwa, and was preceded in death by his father. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral service for Francis E. Bower of 802 South Ward street, who died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at the St. Joseph hospital will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. L.E. Welshons of the First Church of the Open Bible. Burial will be made in Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jewel Leedom. Lloyd Leedom, Russell Sporer, James Benedict, Gayle Enole and Harold Keasling.
