Mrs. Sarah E. Galpin, 93, died at 10 a.m. today at the home of her son, Clay H. Galpin, 242 Freitag avenue. The daughter of William and Martha Brookshire, she was born in Louisville, Kentucky, February 17, 1851, came to Iowa in 1865, and lived in Ottumwa for 55 years. She was a member of Wesley Methodist church. Her husband James Galpin died October 11, 1915, and she was also preceded in death by two sons and two daughters. Survivors are three children, Mrs. Gene Close, San Francisco, Clay H. and Clarence E. Galpin of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Johnson’s chapel conducted by the Rev. R.C. Keagy of Wesley church. Burial in Ottumwa cemetery.
