James McMullen, 72, of Hedrick, died at 10:45 a.m. today at the Ottumwa hospital after 10 years of failing health. He was born May 20, 1871 in New Windsor, Illinois, the son of Harvey and Jane McMullen. He was married 46 years ago at Galesburg and moved immediately to Hedrick and had lived in that community ever since. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lela McMullen and two daughters, Mrs. Marion Davis of Everett, Washington, and Mrs. Dick Keasling of Ottumwa. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers and one sister. The body is at the Community funeral home pending the completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for James McMullen, Hedrick resident who died Thursday morning at the Ottumwa hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Hedrick Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Nelson Murdock and the Rev. A.D. McClure. Burial will be in the Brooks cemetery at Hedrick. McMullen’s nephews will serve as pallbearers. The body will be taken to the family residence at Hedrick Saturday from the Community funeral home here.
