Edmund Barry, 49, former Ottumwan who moved to Peoria, Illinois, about 13 years ago, died Thursday afternoon at the St. Frances hospital in Peoria. He was born October 5, 1894, in Ottumwa. He was a veteran of the World War having enlisted in the Army motor transport corps, June 25, 1918, and was discharged from the Army at Camp Dodge July 15, 1919. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. James Barry of Ottumwa, two sisters, Mrs. Howard Crawford and Mrs. Clarence Ellis, both of Ottumwa and one brother, Thomas Barry of Cudahy, Wisconsin. The body will arrive here early Saturday morning and will be taken to the Vaughan funeral chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday from the Vaughan chapel, and at 2 o’clock from St. Mary’s Catholic church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.M. Walsh V.F. will conduct the services and burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Members of the local American Legion post will conduct military services at the grave.
