Alfred Glenn, 76, Veteran Farmer Dies
Alfred Glenn, 76, Ottumwa route 5, who lived most of his life in Wapello county, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Glenn and was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, December 7, 1866. He came to this county when a child. He married Mary Jane Neighbors December 20, 1886, who survives him. He was a member of the Kirkville Methodist church. Besides his wife, he is survived by seven sons, William H. Glenn, Kirkville and Thomas, Alphia, Elmer, Clarence, Frank and Lawrence Glenn, all of Ottumwa route 5; two daughters, Mrs. Mary A. Middlesworth, Kirkville and Mrs. Gladys Swanson, Ottumwa; 20 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; a brother, Jess Glenn, Ottumwa route 5, and three sisters. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Fairchild and by two sons in infancy.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the residence on Ottumwa route 5 conducted by the Rev. Clifford Dewey of the Kirkville Methodist church. Burial will be in Westview cemetery in Kirkville. The casket will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel to the residence tonight. Pallbearers will be Clyde Kirk, Cecil Hawk, Houston Abernathy, Oscar Schmitz, Walter Brown and Charles Fuhs.
