Douglas James Applegate, 91, died at his home on Florence street at 3:25 p.m. Thursday after a year of failing health. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances, April 3, 1937, and is survived by a daughter Mrs. Anna Donaldson, at home, and one brother, George Applegate of Sioux City. He came to Ottumwa 44 years ago and had lived her ever since. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday and the Community funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. S.C. Cole, former pastor of the Riverview Methodist church, now at Millersburg. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral chapel until the time for the service.
