Homer L. Haney, 46, died at his home 537 South Milner street, at 9:45 p.m. Friday, following a lingering illness. He was the son of John and Bernina Haney and was born in Van Buren county, Iowa. September 25, 1897. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 40 years. He was a former employee of the Harper-McIntire Wholesale Co. prior to taking ill nine years ago. Surviving are his wife, Stella, one son, Donald and one daughter Mrs. Margaret Forbes of Ottumwa. Two granddaughters, Gloria Jean Forbes and Barbara Ann Forbes, both of Ottumwa, and two sisters, Mrs. Cuba Speir of Rock Island, Illinois, and Mrs. Iva Hewitt of Selma also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. A.D. McClure, of the Pentecostal church, and the Rev. C.R. Reed, of the Willard Street Methodist church. Burial will be in Troy cemetery.
