Mrs. Lydia A. Ruggles, 71, of Waterloo, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday at the St. Joseph hospital. She was born June 11, 1872 in Jefferson county, the daughter of Archibald and Margaret Downey. She became ill while visiting relatives in the vicinity of her birthplace. She is survived by two sons, T.C. Ruggles of Centerville and J.C. Ruggles of New Hampton. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; Archibald Downey, Ottumwa; Davis Downey, Richland; Willard Downey, Long Beach, California; Mrs. Cora Buchanan, Berkeley, California; Mrs. Rebecca Darling, Fairfield and Mrs. Francis Sears, Fairfield. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. Harold Roberts, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be Monday in the Rose Hill cemetery at Fredericksburg.
