Death Comes To Sister Mary Bernice
Sister Mary Bernice, formerly Miss Mary Alta Hannon of Parnell, died at 5:50 a.m. today at the St. Joseph hospital. She had been in ill health for a number of years and since October of 1942 she had been a patient at the St. Joseph hospital. Sister Mary Bernice was born July 9, 1910, at Creston, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Hannon, who now live in Parnell. She entered the Order of the Sisters of Humility of Mary on February 1, 1931. Besides her parents, she is survived by one sister, Miss Dorothy Hannon, a graduate nurse at the St. Joseph hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the chapel at Ottumwa Heights college. The following relatives will serve as officers of the mass; the Rt. Rev. Msgr. W.L. Hannon of St. Mathias Catholic church in Muscatine; the Rev. T.C. Donohoe, pastor of the St. Patrick’s church here, the Rev. John M. Cash of Parnell. The body will remain at the St. Joseph hospital until 6 p.m. Wednesday, when it will be taken to the convent at Ottumwa Heights college. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery at the college.
