Samuel Mattingley, 79, former employee of John Morrell & Co. died at 8:05 today at his home 1904 Bertha street. He was the son of Sam and Elizabeth Mattingley, and was born at Louisville, Kentucky. He came to Ottumwa when 16 years old and had worked at Morrell’s and had been engaged in farming. Survivors include his wife, Liddy, three sons. Joseph and James Mattingley, Ottumwa, and Charles O. Mattingley in the Navy; three daughters Florence Mattingly and Mrs. Lucille Simmer, both of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Eva McNulty, Hollywood, California and 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Samuel Mattingley, who died at his home 1904 Bertha street, last Saturday morning, will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel conducted by the Rev. E.M. Boyer. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The casket is at the residence and will be returned to the chapel at noon Tuesday.
