Mrs. Stella Bailey, 71 life-long resident of Ottumwa, died at 6:10 a.m. today at her home. 514 East Vine, Street. She was the daughter of Benedict and Sarah Gruwell and was born in Ottumwa March 15, 1871. She was a member of the Finely Avenue Baptist church. Survivors include her husband J.C. Bailey Ottumwa; four sons, W. A. Bailey, R.E. Bailey, G.H. Bailey and E.S. Bailey, all of Ottumwa; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and two brothers, Ed Gruwell, Ottumwa route 6, and Frank Gruwell, Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers, and three sisters. The body was removed to the Johnson funeral chapel pending arrangements.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Bailey, who died Monday morning at the home at 514 East Vine street, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. J.R. Estes, pastor of the First Baptist church, will be in charge and burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery. The pallbearers will be Orville Gruwell, Carroll Gruwell, Harry Gruwell, Len Gruwell, Earl Gruwell and Ralph Bailey.
