Death Comes To Frank A. Hilliard, 67

Frank Arthur Hilliard, 67, veteran Ottumwa real estate and insurance agent, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday at his home on North Court road following an illness of 36 hours. He had been in failing health for more than a year. The son of John and Irene Hilliard, he was born February 26, 1875 near Osceola. He had lived in Ottumwa for the past 33 years and at the time of his death was Wapello county probation officer for the district court. He married Myrtle E. Stoneburner, January 22, 1899. Mr. Hilliard was a member of the First Methodist church, the Masonic lodge No. 16, A.F. & A.M. and Easter Star. He was president of the Ottumwa Real Estate board, president of the advisory board of the Salvation Army, and had been active in Y.M.C.A. and Boy Scout work, and in republican politics. During his years in Ottumwa he served as land examiner for several insurance and was considered an authority on land values in this area. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Burdete L. Hilliard, South Bend, Indiana; a daughter, Mrs. Lois Crooks, West Burlington, Obit cut off at this point.
