Old Ottumwa Resident Dies
Mrs. Caroline W. Kendall, 84, resident of Ottumwa for 54 years, died Thursday afternoon at Madrid. She was the daughter of Carl and Caroline Carlson was born in New Sweden August 16, 1858. She later moved to Ottumwa and was a member of the First Lutheran church. She was married to Victor W. Kendall June 11, 1882, at Munterville. He died January 11, 1914. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Anthon Calrson of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Carl Meyer of Burlington; two sons, Elmer Kendall of Ottumwa and the Rev. Leonard Kendall D.D. of Minneapolis; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death also by two sons, Charles and Robert and by a grandson Donald Kendall of Ottumwa. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. Malvin H. Lundeen. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. The casket will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel late today to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carlson, at 222 North Fellows avenue, and will be taken to the church at 3 p.m. Thursday and will be closed at the beginning of the service.
