Veteran Railway Employee Is Dead
John Broiche, 69, Worked For Milwaukee Road Half Century; Ottumwan 59 Years.
John Broiche, 69, veteran Milwaukee railroad employee, died at his home, 111 Blackhawk street, Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Mr. Broiche had been a resident of Ottumwa for the last 59 years and for 50 of those years had been in the employ of the Milwaukee railroad. He was the son of Frederick William and Ernestine Broiche and was born in St. Peter, Minnesota, October 26, 1860. Surviving are one son, Harold of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. B.M. Torrence of Ottumwa, and Miss Dorothy G. Broiche of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. John Kielkoff, Mrs. Lizzie Young, and Miss Lydia M. Broiche of Ottumwa; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren, Mrs. Nina Wheeler, Lloyd Westfall and Fay Kaline. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Lester Jay funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Harold Lancaster D.D. pastor of the First Methodist church of which Mr. Broiche was a member. Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harold T. Lee, L.H. Towns, Fred Hunt, Benjamin F. Davis, Wilbur R. Rolison and Lester W. Wallerick.
