G.O. Clarkson Dies At Age 82
George Oliver Clarkson, 82, died at the home of his son, Edward O. Clarkson, Ottumwa route 1, at 8:40 p.m. Monday. The son of William and Amy Clarkson, he was born in Indiana September 23, 1859. He came to Ottumwa when 8 years old, and had lived in Wapello county all the rest of his life. Surviving are his son, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mr. Clarkson was the last member of family of 13. He was a worker, farmer and laborer in Ottumwa for many years. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 at the Community Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Roscoe Morrison of Harding Park Open Bible church in charge. Burial will be in the Dahlonega cemetery. Pallbearers will be old friends. The body will remain at the Community Funeral service parlors unit the time for the funeral.
