Mrs. John Stocker, Mother Of 9, Dies
Three Of Children In Nations Armed Forces
Mrs. Emmeline May Stocker, 41 wife of John H. Stocker, 205 Grand avenue, died after a long illness Saturday at 10:10 p.m. at the Ottumwa hospital. Mrs. Stocker was the mother of nine children, three of whom are serving in the nation's armed forces. She was the daughter of Andy E. and Mamie French, born May 22, 1900 in Ottumwa. She lived in the county all her life and in Ottumwa for the past 16 years. She was a member of Navy Mothers club 17. Surviving are her husband John; eight sons, Elmer S. In the Army at Camp Haan, California, Carl L. a Marine on Midway Island, Kenneth L. at the Navy base in New London, Conn. Floyd K. in the C.C.C. camp at Solon. Everett, Glen E., and Ronald D. of Ottumwa, and Gordon L. of Strawberry Point. A daughter Gretchen L. of Ottumwa, her father Andy E. French of Whitehall, Montana, a sister Mrs. Herbert Stufflebeam of Ottumwa, and four brothers also survive. the brothers are; George E. French of Kansas City, Fred P. Lynch of Phoenix, Arizona, and Rollie H. and Charles G. French of Ottumwa. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. A.D. McClure. Burial will be in the Munterville cemetery. The casket will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel to the church at 8:30 a.m.
