William Stirling Dies At Age Of 84
Prominent Mason, Former Iron Works Employee
William Stirling 84, a retired Ottumwa Iron Works employee, whose home was a 244 West Woodland, died at the University hospital in Iowa City at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. He had been a patient in the hospital since Sunday. Mr. Stirling was born January 1856. His wife survives him. He had been retied from active work for 15 years. Before that he worked for the Iron Works for a period of 45 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Ottumwa, lodge No. 16 A.F & A.M and Clinton chapter R.A.M. No. 31. Ottumwa Council A.S.M. No. 9. He was also a member of Malta Commandery, Knights Templar No. 31. He was married December 19, 1883, to Mary C. (obit cut off) Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. Paul Graebel D.D. with burial in the Ottumwa cemetery. Masons will serve as pallbearers.
