Services Here For L.A. Johnston
Funeral services for Laurence A. (Pete) Johnston, 218 Grandview avenue, will be held at the Johnson funeral chapel at 10 a.m. Tuesday, in charge of the Rev. Paul Grabel of the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Davenport. Johnston died at 7 p.m. Friday in a St. Charles, Missouri hospital of injuries received in an auto accident the previous Sunday. He had lived in Ottumwa for the last three years, and was local manager of the Beatrice Creamery Co. Mr. Johnston was born at Newton, Kansas, December 17, 1906, the son of James A. and Mary Ellen Johnston. He attended the University of Nebraska, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and also of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Johnston married Olive Douglas May 18, 1935 at Muscatine. She survives him. Also surviving are his parents. Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Johnston, Marshalltown; a brother, Milton of Marshalltown, and a sister Mrs. James Percival, Marshalltown. Pallbearers will be business associates and managers of the Beatrice Creamery Co.
