William Wesley Hicks, 83, died at 12:30 today at his home, 433 North Milner street after a year's illness. A member of Garfield Lodge No. 485, A.F. and A.M. at Hedrick. Mr. Hicks was a resident of the Ottumwa vicinity for 29 years. He is survived by his wife, Nettie; two sons, Stanley of Fairfield, and Quincy of Highland Center; three brothers and three sisters; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann, four years ago and his daughter Mrs. Mable Hicks Rector, 12 years ago. A short service will be conducted at the Community funeral service chapel at 9 a.m. Monday. The body will be taken to Fulton county, Illinois, for another service at the Providence church, and burial. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
