Mrs. Crockett Dies At 85
Mrs. Margaret Ruth Crockett, 85, former Ottumwan died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elijha Lewis, in Des Moines Sunday at 9 a.m. Mrs. Crockett lived in Ottumwa for 50 years prior to moving to her daughters home 10 years ago. She was the daughter of Ossian and Amanda Ross and was born in Beardstown, Illinois June 6, 1855. She moved to Watson, Missouri, with her parents when she was 16 years old. She was married to James G. Crockett May 9, 1872, at that town. He died May 7, 1907 at Ottumwa. Surviving are two children, Joe R. Crockett and Mrs. Lewis of Des Moines; granddaughter, Mrs. Carl J. Bartlett of Ottumwa and great-grandson Carl Lewis Bartlett of Ottumwa. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Johnson's funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. J.R. Johnson of the Wesley Methodist church. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
