Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Monday, October 11, 1920:

John Swanson, aged 76 years, died last evening at 10 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Christina Sandell, 1027 Center avenue.

The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock at the Roscoe Undertaking parlors. Rev. Bersell will officiate. Burial will be made in the Shaul cemetery.
