Norman "Don" Hendricks, 78, of 217 Wildwood Drive died at 3:50pm Aug. 26, 1990, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born March 29, 1912, in Ottumwa to William and Lillian Cassill Hendricks. He married Eileen Elsensohn on Sept. 11, 1935, in Lancaster, Missouri. A lifelong resident of Ottumwa, he was an employee of John Deere Ottumwa Works for 28 years, retiring from the experimental department in 1974. He served with the U.S. Navy for 8 1/2 years, three of those during WWII. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 74, O.B. Nelson Post 3 of the American Legion and Eagles Aerie 114. He is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents;a sister, Marjorie Newville; and a brother, William Hendricks. The service will be at 1:30pm Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. Vern Elder officiating. Burial will be in the Shaul Cemetery. O.B. Nelson Post 3 of the American Legion will be in charge of military services at the grave. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 pm Tuesday. The Ottumwa Courier
